I used to watch cartoon a lot when I was young and I remember this cartoon I once saw about an elephant who could fly using its ears. I have since then been fascinated by this character.

I wanted to make this version of Jumbo for a while now, but since I liked the pose too much, I couldn’t gather the courage to attempt it, worried I might blow it. A few days back, we had an Elephant Appreciation Day. I wanted to make something really special so I gathered my courage and attempted this sketch.

I painted it using watercolors but didn’t shade over it using my pencil colors this time. There was a huge internal argument and I wasted almost half of the day just staring at the picture. Finally, I decided to let it be as it is and posted it here. I liked the simple effect that just the watercolors gave it.
