There could be a huge debate on weather or not a story should stand on it’s own. This TV Show, was definitely made to last more than season one.
When a story writer writes a story, often times, they want to create a whole universe and not stop at just one. But, they don’t think about this before hand. And what I love about this story, is that they knew from the start that they are going to have a season two.
When in second episode, Dick goes to meet Dawn and Hawk, I would have never been able to guess how big a part they are going to play for the season’s finale and for the setup of next season.
At times, I was frustrated, cause I didn’t necessarily understand/nor have the patience to see the story the screen writers were trying to tell me. But I am extremely happy to admit that I was wrong. The story holds true to all the hype it got for itself with its “dark” trailer.
The story starts with an idea and as the story progresses, we don’t get a standard build up to that idea. We have a very unique approach of being shown, seemingly arbitrary things, which at the end adds up to the story experience you were actually hoping for.
I don’t blame my lack of patience to myself, but to the increasingly heavy amount of disposable content online, which is made with an idea of simple ‘instant gratification’ that top notch series like this one right here, sometimes get’s overlooked and undermined.
Now, I am sure that there is a huge chance season two will screw up the series. But the fact that this is streamed explicitly on the DC Universe web site and is helmed by the people who are the core creators of these amazing characters, makes me feel very hopeful.
They have a solid story line which is written in a unique way, that is rarely seen now-a-days. Personally, I can’t wait for season two. I very well want to know what happens next, and I have a pretty good idea of how the series will move further – they will not straight away show us what’s next. They will take an approach of moving around the main story and adding to it. I could be very wrong, but if I am right, I will be patient this time and watch the series as the show runners intend me to watch it, with patience and without getting frustrated.
There is no gratification (read: conclusion) of the story, yet. But the hopefulness this story has brought forth in me, is well worth all the wait it has built up. It’s been really long, since I saw a story where people are true to the characters they have been built up as. No one here, acts out of character.
I will rate season one of Titans, 9/10.
